The most common mistake is treating AI adoption as a reason to rebuild your whole system. In most cases, AI features can be added to existing software rather than replacing it.
A support inbox can get an AI-assisted first response without replacing the inbox. A sales process can get an AI summary step without replacing the CRM.
The right approach is to find the specific, repetitive task that's costing time today, and add AI at that one point — not to adopt AI as a company-wide initiative with no clear task attached.
Once a narrow use case proves itself, it's much easier to justify expanding it than to have built a large AI system nobody asked for.
